Saumarez Park

Saumarez Park

Saumarez (Som-er-ray) Park, the biggest park in Guernsey, has a whole area for kids to play on the swings, a huge boat-like apparatus and slides. Nearby is a gym for the older kids and adults. On the field is a bigger four seated swing, usually used by teenagers. There is also a duck pond with a wooden hut nearby to view the ducks from.

Rousse Tower

Rousse Tower

This fully restored and accessible loop-holed tower was originally built in the 19th century to defend the island against the threat of a French invasion. The tower has been wonderfully maintained and is complete with replica cannons, making it a great place to stop off along your walk around Rousse headland.

Castle Cornet

Castle Cornet

Castle Cornet is a large island castle in Guernsey, and former tidal island, also known as Cornet Rock or Castle Rock. Its importance was as a defence not only of the Island, but of the road stead. It became part of one of the breakwaters of St Peter Port's harbour, the main one in the island, in 1859.

Guernsey Harbour

Guernsey Harbour

Saint Peter Port Harbour is located in Saint Peter Port, Guernsey. It was a natural anchorage used by the Romans which has been changed into an artificial harbour that is now the island's main port for passengers. Loose cargo, liquids and gas are shipped to and from St Sampson's harbour.

Bluebell Woods

Bluebell Woods

Bluebells flower between mid-April and late May. This early flowering makes the most of the sunlight that reaches the woodland floor before the full woodland canopy casts its shade. Millions of bulbs may grow closely together in one wood, creating one of nature's most stunning displays.

St Peter Port Lighthouse

St Peter Port Lighthouse

The lighthouse, used as an aid to shipping, has a focal plane height of 14m above Mean High Water Springs and a range of 16NM (easily seen on clear evenings on rounding Corbiere Point in Jersey). It has a continuous light showing white for 7.5 seconds and red for 2.5 seconds, and a 12m (40 ft) round granite tower with lantern and gallery. During restricted visibility, a horn is sounded once every 15s to assist vessels in restricted visibility - activated manually by Guernsey Port Control.
